Looking into a Volcano

Today we drove to Haleakala National Park to check out the volcano. It was a really long, windey. drive up a mountain to get there. I got this certificate but I barely made it to the top. Iwas so so car sick. I'm definitely going to have to take a dramamine when we go to Hana on Saturday. It was really neat to see the volcano (which is still considered active). It was pretty cold up there though. We couldn't wait to get back down to Sunny Beaches. It's too bad that when we get home we won't be able to leave the cold and run to a sunny beach anymore. This is a silversword plant. It doesn't grow anywhere else in the world besides here. It is quite interesting, it gows for fifty years and then it puts all of its effort into blooming flowers out the top of it and then it dies. CRAZY

Another volcano observatory. This is 10,000 feet above sea level

The clouds were kind of blocking the view

My back seat buddy

Tonight we sat on the beach to watch the sunset and also watched people dive off this cliff.

Ahhhh Hawaiian Sunsets!!!

Thought this was cute.

So Pretty Here

These are pineapple plants. Chad and I both thought that pineapples grew on trees (McCarthys you can quit laughing now).

This licence plate pretty much sums up how I feel about Maui!!

Ohhhh look at these cute little baby bananas

Chad says he's going to plant one of these trees in our front yard.

ALOHA!!

You were sitting on Kaanapali beach watching the sunset, eh? Beautiful. That was one of our favorite date nights...we used to camp up Haleakala...it does get chilly. No worries, we've got plenty of chilly for you here in Preston.
